INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board reportedly has struck a deal to pay about $160 million to the Indiana Pacers to keep the NBA franchise in the city. The Indianapolis Star and the Indianapolis Business Journal reported Thursday that the deal due to be announced Monday will keep the Pacers in the city through the 2023-24 season. The agreement includes options to renew the deal for three years. The reports said the deal includes $33.5 million for upgrades to Bankers Life Fieldhouse and $10.8 million per year for operations. The Pacers would not be allowed to terminate the agreement because of operating losses. The city also gets the right of first refusal if 79-year-old team owner Herb Simon dies and his heirs put the team up for sale. Joe Namath Rams Jersey. He earned a couple days off. The rush of contracts came as the January transfer window was closing late Friday. The 23-year-old Holtby arrived at Tottenham from Schalke 12 months ago in a 1.25 million pound ($2 million) deal but struggled to establish himself at Spurs. According to Holtbys agent, Marcus Noak, the player was keen on returning to the Bundesliga but his price tag was a dissuasive factor. "A return to the Bundesliga has been shattered due to circumstances we couldnt control," Noak said. "Fulham has put much effort into Lewis. It is a very well-run club with an excellent manager, Rene Meulensteen. The system and philosophy how Fulham plays fits well with Lewis." Holtby has joined Fulham on loan for the rest of the season. His signing follows the recent arrivals of Clint Dempsey -- on a two-month loan from the Seattle Sounders -- and William Kvist. "Ill do what I can to help us beat teams and keep us up and out of the bottom three and ensure that we have a good remainder of the season," Holtby said. Languishing in the relegation zone, Fulham achieved a real coup with the midfielders arrival as Adel Taarabt headed to AC Milan following a disappointing spell at Craven Cottage. Fulham also added to its attack with the signing of Mitroglou on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Olympiakos. The Greece forward is expected to replace Dimitar Berbatov, who has been linked with a move to Monaco and is expected in the principality on Friday for a medical. Also involved in the relegation fight, Cardiffs new manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer used his United connections to lure Zaha from Old Trafford, where the 21-year-old is judged surplus to requirements. Zaha helped Crystal Palace secure promotion through the playoffs last year but was relegated to the bench by United. Zaha iis Cardiffs sixth January signing after Solksjaer, a former United player, reinforced his struggling squad with the addition of Fabio, Kenwyne Jones, Magnus Wolff Eikrem, Mats Moller Daehli and Jo Inge Berget.dddddddddddd Cardiff is bottom of the Premier League and Solksjaer is hoping that Zahas skills will lead his side out of the drop zone. He said Zaha "will bring that little final bit to find pockets of space and produce a bit of magic." The big teams remained relatively quiet as United confirmed it would not make any more signings before the 2300 GMT deadline after it shattered the club record transfer by paying Chelsea 37.1 million pounds ($61 million) for Spain midfielder Juan Mata last week. "You can stand your cameras down," United manager David Moyes told a news conference. "I dont think they will be required. We have done our business." Chelsea announced the signing of Saint-Etienne defender Kurt Zouma on a five-and-a-half-year deal but the 19-year-old central defender will remain on loan at the French club until the end of the season. Chelseas north London rivals Arsenal looked for a replacement for the injured Aaron Ramsey and were expected to sign veteran midfielder Kim Kallstrom on loan for the remainder of the season. English topflight clubs had already spent 10 million pounds ($16.5 million) more than this time last year. According to football finance experts Deloitte, Premier League clubs had spent 95 million pounds ($156 million) on acquiring new players ahead of the deadline day, with gross spending at this point last season reaching 85 million pounds ($140 million). On the final day of the window in January 2013, they spent 35 million pounds ($57.5 million). Regardless of the amount of activity on Friday, Deloitte says Premier League clubs have already set a record for transfer spending this season, which broke the "700 million pounds ($1.15 billion) mark for the first time, with spending currently at 725 million pounds ($1.19 billion)." PHOENIX -- Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez may miss the first few games of spring training after having a non-cancerous polyp removed from his colon. Calvin Johnson Lions Jersey . The polyp was discovered during a routine colonoscopy in December, assistant general manager Gord Ash said Wednesday. The veteran is expected to be in camp by Fridays reporting deadline, with a physical over the weekend. "There were no issues to be concerned about or alarmed with" Ramirezs health, Ash said. Otherwise, the procedure disrupted his typical winter routine with hitting. Ramirez is hitting again, though manager Ron Roenicke said he cant pinpoint when hell be ready to play in games. Milwaukee plays its first spring training game Feb. 27. "Its not issues, (Ramirez is) just behind ... and whats the rush if hes a week, 10 days behind," Ash said. TORONTO – The punishment would seem to be worth the toll it takes on the body of 31-year-old Tim Gleason. "I shouldnt even say anything," said Gleason with a touch of good humour after the latest Leafs win, "but Ill knock on some wood because the pucks are hitting me. Id rather them hit me than go in the net or have (the goaltender) save 75 shots or whatever the case is." "I guess its being in the right spot or sometimes I think its the worst spot to be." Seemingly numb to the physical destruction his play seems to entail, Gleason blocked five more shots on Thursday night, also dolling out six hits in nearly 24 minutes – a team-high – en route to his teams eighth win in the past 10 games (8-1-1), a 6-3 topping of the Panthers at home. A hard and even nasty presence on a defence that lacked such an element previously, Gleason has been a welcome addition in Toronto, finding a new lease on life with the Maple Leafs. "Gleas has been a guy thats come in and been a heart and soul guy for us," said head coach Randy Carlyle after the win against Florida. "Blocking shots, physical, hard to play against – thats his game. And we dont expect him to do anything more." Just as hed hoped when waiving his no-trade clause to come to Toronto, Gleason has quickly re-energized his career with the Leafs. A member of the US Olympic team in 2010, he was averaging less than 16 minutes for the Hurricanes before being dealt for John-Michael Liles and a prospect earlier this month. Grappling hold of minutes that previously went to the struggling duo of Paul Ranger and Mark Fraser, Gleason, averaging more than 19 minutes, has offered precisely the type of defensive force the Leafs, and more specifically Carlyle, have been searching for. The physical toll hes absorbed in his brief tenure as a Leaf has, at times, been almost excruciating to watch. Notable were the two bruising shots he blocked to protect a one-goal lead and eventual victory in Boston earlier this month. Earlier this week, in a win over Tampa, he endured one painful puck to the nether regions, another to the face, later sustaining a thunderous check into the end-boards by Teddy Purcell, one that briefly injured his left shoulder, but apparently did little to affect his status for this most recent game against the Panthers. "Hes an animal that guy," Nazem Kadri said of the Clawson, Michigan native. "Hell stand in front of anything. Thats important for a team to have, those defencemen, those players who would do anything for the team and thats exactly what Timmy is." Five Points 1. Success at Home Thursday marked the fifth consecutive win at home for the Leafs and 19th in 30 games this season (19-10-1). Toronto owns the fourth-highest winning percentage on home ice (.633) in the Eastern Conference, trailing only Pittsburgh, Boston and Tampa. "I think that as a coach you think you should win every game at home," Carlyle said before the win over Florida. "I think if you look at teams that are winning championships and winning division titles and going deep into the playoffs that they have a little bit of an edge when the opposition comes in. They know that this is going to be a tough place to play. I think were still working towards that." Large in the teams success at home is the offence theyve been able to provide. The Leafs have scored three goals per game at the ACC, half-a-goal per game more than theyve managed on the road. A big part of that attack is the leagues no. 1 ranked home power-play (28.4%), which clicked for a pair against the Panthers, including the 22nd this year for James van Riemsdyk – a career-high – and the 16th of the season for Joffrey Lupul. "I played in the west for a lot of years and I know there were some rinks that you went into that were tough and definitely tough to go into," said Mason Raymond, who has 10 of his 14 goals and 23 of his 32 points this season in Toronto. "I think any team is going to tell you they want to make their home rink a tough one to come into and play hard in." 2. En Fuego – Still Tallying three assists in a night for the first time this season, Nazem Kadri had what Carlyle described as "probably the best game that hes played in a long time at both ends of the rink". Kadri dug pucks free in the Panthers zone on goals from Cody Franson and Nik Kulemin before dishing to Lupul for a late power-play blast. "Offensively, Nazzie was a difference-maker tonight," said Carlyle. The 23-year-old has amassed 12 points in the past eight games and is on pace for 57 points this season. He spent seven of those eight games alongside Kulemin and Lupul, the former joining the pair against Montreal on Jan. 19. With Kulemin – a left shot – playing the right wing and Lupul – a right shot – playing the left wing, the line has gradually come alive. "It seems like Kulie is a better right winger, Lupul is a better left winger, which is kind of mind-boggling at times – ones a right shot and ones a left shot – but thats where they fit," said Carlyle. 3. Bolland Edging Closer Not looking anything like a player who has endured three months of rehab, Dave Bolland continues to push toward a return for the Leafs. Bolland missed his 41st game of the season on Thursday night, but could make it back before the Olympic break – Toronto plays its final game on Feb. 8. "I would think that theres a 50-50 chance," said Carlyle of Bollands prospects on Thursday morning. "He looks like hes moving quite freely out there and for the better part of the skates he doesnt seem to be affected by it. But obviously theres things going on that are inside that are taking a little bit more time." "Youve got to learn how to work that tendon again and work with it," the 27-year-old said recently. Out since Nov. 2, Bolland still has yet to participate in a full practice with the team – an important first step – joining the group at various points for the first time this week. "Its a dramatic injury," Carlyle said. "Its a difficult place to heal. It takes time. And were asking a guy to do something and his body is telling him another and thats when the push and shove becomes where he can take it." 4. Steve Spott Despite losing a slew of veteran players – Mike Zigomanis, Ryan Hamilton, Greg Scott, Will Acton among them – and their head coach Dallas Eakins to the NHL, the Toronto Marlies have remained an AHL force, winning seven of their past 10 games and leading their division once more this season. The man charged with steering a young, mostly inexperienced and overachieving ship is first-year head coach Steve Spott, formerly of the Kitchener Rangers. "I think Steves really good at getting the most out of his players," Troy Bodie told the Leaf Report, the 29-year-old spending 17 games with the Marlies this season. "Hes really patient with them. He knows its a young group and he has the patience to deal with them properly. They have to learn the pro game so theres a lot of teaching involved. I think hes just good at handling them." The Marlies continue to be led in scoring by defenceman T.J. Brennan and boast only two forwards with 10 goals – Spencer Abbott and the now NHL-bound Carter Ashton. Busting with youth, their roster includes 20-year-olds Josh Leivo, Stuart Percy, and Tyler Biggs along with 21-year-olds Greg McKegg, Sam Carrick, Brad Ross, David Broll, and Petter Granberg. And yet they stand atop the North division with 25 wins in 42 games. 5. Hollands Quest for Consistency From a pure production standpoint Peter Hollands second tour of duty with the Leafs hasnt gone quite as well as the first go around. Dealt to Toronto in mid-November, Holland had a string of eight points in one 10-game span, but has just one point in nine games since being recalled from the Marlies earlier this month. Maintaining consistency at the games highest level is a challenge most young players, the Caledon native included, have to overcome. "In the American League you can kind of have nights off and still end up with a goal or two assists or whatever, you can still end up on the point-sheet," Holland told the Leaf Report earlier this week. "But I think the challenge with this level is doing things that may not show up on the score-sheet but that are effective." Holland spoke of the subtler elements of the game, winning one-on-one battles in the defensive zone, grasping the teams defensive system, wearing down the opposition defence with extended offensive zone time and winning faceoffs. "Just all little things that go into having the team overall feel better out there on the ice," he said. With Trevor Smith due back shortly and Bolland pushing the pace en route to recovery (see above), Hollands spot in the lineup would seem to be in impending jeopardy. Still quite young in his NHL career – 60 games – further seasoning with Spott and the Marlies would not be a bad thing. Stats-Pack 22 – Goals for James van Riemsdyk this season, a career-high. 20 – Points for Phil Kessel in January, the highest total for any one month in his NHL career. 7 – Times in the past eight games that Nazem Kadri has recorded at least a point. 4 – Goals in the past 28 games for Mason Raymond, who scored his 14th this season against the Panthers. 12 – Points for Kadri in the past eight games. 28.4% – Power-play success rate for the Leafs at home this season, tops in the NHL. 5 – Blocked shots for Tim Gleason against the Panthers. 8-1-1 – Leafs record in the past 10 games. 8-8 – Toronto penalty kill in the past two games. ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis general manager Doug Armstrong ended a Thursday morning news conference by saying that Alexander Steen had to leave, "to go out and earn his money," after the left wing had signed a three-year, $17.4 million contract extension. So far, Steen is off to a good start. He scored twice and Jaroslav Halak made 25 saves against his former team to lead the Blues to a 5-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. St. Louis broke a two-game losing streak and improved to 14-3-2 at home. Montreal has lost four of six. Steen recorded his fifth two-goal game of the season. His 24 goals place him second behind Washingtons Alex Ovechkin, who has 28. "It was a pretty good day," Steen said. Steen tied a career high for most goals in a season. He also had 24 in 2009-2010. Steens signing ignited his teammates. "When the news first broke, it fired everyone up," winger Chris Stewart said. "We came out with the right intensity." Halak improved to 4-0 against the Canadiens, who traded him to St. Louis on June 17, 2010. He is 17-6-2 this season. Stewart, Jaden Schwartz and Maxim Lapierre also scored for St. Louis. T.J. Oshie added two assists. Brendan Gallagher scored for Montreal, which began a season-high six-game road trip. It was his first goal in 12 games. Steen started a three-goal outburst in the first period with a short-handed goal at 4:20. He scored again at 7:55 to make it 2-0. Steen gave his teammates credit for the win. "We played a solid game throughout the whole 60 minutes," he said. "We came out with a lot of jump. I felt like we dictated from the early going." Stewart capped the early blitz with his 10th goal of the season at 13:33. It was his fifth in as many games. The Blues had been outscored 6-1 in the first period in their three previous games. Halak continued his mastery of his former teammates. He has an 0.98 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage in four starts against Montreal. He stopped Michael Bournival on a partial breakaway in the early going and made 12 stops in the final period. "Its been good, for now," he said. "But we will see them again. Its great to (be) 4-0. But for us, it was all about the two points." Montreal goalie Carey Price gave up three goals on the first eight shots and fell to 16-11-2 as the Canadiens dig themselves a deep hole and never quite recovered. "We didnt show up tonight," Montreal coach Michel Therrien said. "It was simple, our work ethic was not there. Im disappointed in our performance -- no effort. This was a bad game for us." You can look at 2014s final Thursday Night Football battle between the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars in two ways, a tilt to decide who will end up in the AFC South cellar or an opportunity to garner a better pick in the 15 NFL Draft. The Titans and Jags will square off having mustered only two wins apiece with one of Tennessees coming when it edged Jacksonville, 16-14, back in Music City on Oct. 12. Since that game, the teams have combined to lose 14 of 16 contests with the Titans dropping eight straight in Ken Whisenhunts first season at the helm, and the Jaguars losing six of eight behind rookie quarterback Blake Bortles. Each team suffered its latest setback in Week 15 as Tennessee fell to the lowly New York Jets, 16-11, and Jacksonville came up short in Baltimore, 20-12. The Jets Chris Ivory scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:09 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift New York to its triumph in Nashville although the Titans made it interesting and nearly pulled off another Music City Miracle on the games last play, lateraling numerous times before Delanie Walker came up short at the Jets 9-yard line. Jake Locker made his first start for the Titans since Week 5 and likely his last with the organization as he left the game late in the second quarter with a dislocated left shoulder. The injury-prone Locker, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 draft, started because rookie Zach Mettenberger re-injured his right shoulder the week prior. He was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve this week and is unlikely to return to the Titans next season. To me, hes a true pro, Whisenhunt said. Hes a great teammate, works hard and you obviously feel badly for Jake just from the standpoint of having to have surgery and his season being over. Charlie Whitehurst replaced Locker against the Jets and was 10-of-24 for 203 yards in his first action since Week 7. The veteran will start again this week and be backed up by the recently signed Jordan Palmer. I havent played as well as I wanted to this year. Theres a few plays I left out there, Whitehurst said. But every time I go out there, theres a few personal things that come out of it -- Its been fun to do it and kind of see what youre made of. Tennessees current eight-game skid is the franchises longest since the 1994 Houston Oilers dropped 11 straight. Jacksonville, meanwhile, fell in the Charm City when the Ravens Joe Flacco threw for 221 yards with a touchdown and the Baltimore defense kept the Jaguars out of the end zone. Josh Scobee kicked four field goals to account for the Jags entire offensive output. Bortles threw for 210 yards with an interception for the Jaguars. He was, however, also sacked eight times by a swarming Baltimore defense that limited Jacksonville to 248 total yards. Theres gonna be talk about how Hey Jacksonville played extremely hard, very physical, came into our house and did some really good things, special teams wise two phases did really good but I told them were not into moral victories, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said. Were into victories. Were into victories. Thats what were after. After the beating Bortles was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain and has been in a walking boot but the Jags are hopeful he will play on Thursday and the rookie was back at practice on a limited basis by Tuesday. As far as I know, its going to be Blake, Jaguars offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said Tuesday. Were going to obbviously see how he practices.dddddddddddd He did better, Bradley added on Tuesday. You could see him improve. The Titans lead their all-time series with the Jags by a 22-17 margin, including the win earlier this season when Jackie Battle rushed for a TD and kicker Ryan Succop booted three field goals. Bortles threw for a career-high 336 yards and a touchdown in the setback but Tennessee sacked him six times and blocked a potential game-winning 55-yard field goal with 12 seconds left. WHAT TO WATCH FOR Tis the time of year when certain teams give up and the Titans seem to be at the top of that list, failing to succeed no matter who is under center, Mettenberger, Locker or Whitehurst. The (injury) circumstances arent great, but when something like that does happen, it does give you a chance, Whitehurst said. Theres no substitute for it. You get to play. You get to play in the NFL. The lack of a consistent competent option at the games most important position has hindered Tennessee all season and the Titans head into the final two games with the NFLs 29th ranked offense, mustering just 307.9 yards per game and scoring less than 14 points per game during their current skid. The Jags are even worse, however, 31st in a 32-team league while averaging under 300 ypg at 293.8. On paper that should make things easier for the respective defensive units but they havent exactly set the world on fire either as the Jags stop unit is ranked 28th, surrendering 372.6 ypg, and the Titans are actually a tick below at 29, allowing six yards more. The run game has been particularly daunting for Tennessee. The Titans cant run it, amassing under 65 yards per game over the last 2 1/2 months, and they cant stop opponents from running it, surrendering a league-worst 139.6 ypg. Jacksonville has a little more hope because Bortles, the No. 3 overall pick in last years draft, has shown signs, albeit only for brief periods. Bortles has thrown 10 touchdown passes versus 17 interceptions and has the leagues second-worst passer rating at 70.6 but hes also under significant duress more often than not, being sacked an NFL-high 41 times since hes taken over from Chad Henne. The impressive skill set is visible, though, and Bortles has embraced a leadership role. A lot of (the sacks) are on me, Bortles said. Some are on the offensive line. Its on the whole offense. Its football, so you better be used to getting hit. Bortles also seems aware that he needs to speed up his decision making. In college, you can run around and do more stuff, but in the NFL guys are a lot faster and stronger, the Central Florida product said. So its a little more difficult. You want to be able to get rid of the ball and live another down, not lose yards on third down and create longer field-goal situation. Those are definitely things Im working on. Whitehurst has actually been Tennessees most effective QB this season, compiling an 89.1 passer rating and going 1-2 as a starter with the lone triumph being against the Jags in the October game when he completed 17-of-28 passes for 233 yards. I feel good about Charlie and what hes done, Whisenhunt said. He started against Jacksonville the last time and played a pretty good game. Hes been a great support in the room, and we have confidence in him. OVERALL ANALYSIS Neither team looks primed to much offensively but the Jags seem like the lesser of two evils here mainly because the Titans have been an abject disaster on the road, losing six straight and being outscored by an average of 34 to 16 in those games. Carey Price stopped 36 shots for his first shutout of the season and 20th of his career. It was yet another poor start for the Jets as Brandon Prust scored 2:06 in. The goal came before the Jets were able to get the puck into the Montreal zone. P.K. Subban made it 2-0 at 11:28 to extend his point streak to five (2-6-8). It was the second time in this homestand that the Jets fell behind early (3-0 after one vs. Dallas). Visiting teams all talk about taking the MTS Centre crowd out of the game early, and that has been the case far too often. The Jets did spend a lot more time in the offensive zone in the second and third periods but did not generate enough quality chances to beat Price. Michael Frolik at the end of the second and Andrew Ladd early in the third had great chances but failed to score. Daniel Briere into an empty net with 1:18 left ended it. Jets are now 1-2 on this six-game homestand with St. Louis here Friday, Nashville Sunday and Washington Tuesday. (All games on TSN Jets, TSN 1290). On the season the Jets are now 3-4 while Montreal goes to 4-2. The Canadiens finish their four-game road trip at 3-1. Final shots were 36-25 but Coach Claude Noel felt "the shots are a misjudgement of the way we played. They blocked a lot of shots (26) and we helped them. We missed the net (17 missed shots), not enough traffic." On the slow start, "we had a couple of opportunities oon the first shift to get their pressure stopped and we didnt.dddddddddddd We swatted, batted and reached." Captain Andrew Ladd had this to say post game, "Its unfortunate that it takes two goals to get a little desperation in our game. You got to find a way to get going off the hop. I mean theres enough energy in this building to do that and to start the game with the right intentions." There were not a lot of "A" games as far as the Jets were concerned, with Mark Scheifele the exception. "He was pretty good, created some chances," was the comment from Coach Noel. Scheifele played a season-high 18:09, had four shots on goal, was involved physically and won 50 per cent of his draws. It may have been his best game of the season. Evander Kane took three minor penalties in the game, one for holding and two for hooking. "When you are reaching for people, you are going to get called," commented Noel when asked about the calls. Dustin Byfuglien played a season-high 28:03, including just under 10 minutes in the third when the Jets tried to get themselves back in the game. The Jets have now scored seven goals in the last five games, one the empty netter vs. New Jersey as offence continues to be an issue. And not just goals, but after most games players talk about not creating enough good scoring chances. The next two opponents, St. Louis and Nashville, are both very good defensively. The schedule favours the Jets as St. Louis plays in Chicago Thursday, while Nashville plays in Montreal Saturday. MADRID, Spain -- Atletico Madrid brought back Diego to strengthen its Spanish league title push, while Valencia witnessed a series of arrivals and exits from the club as the January transfer window closed on Friday. Atletico signed the Brazilian midfielder on loan from Wolfsburg until the end of the season. Diego previously played under coach Diego Simeone during the 2011/12 season, helping Atletico win the Europa League title that season. Diego said he was overwhelmed by the return to Atletico as it bids for a first league title since 1996, while also competing in the knockout stages of the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. "It was only a matter of time before Atletico got to where it is," Diego said. "I had already seen the potential of this team and this club when I was here before." Diegos arrival meant midfielder Oliver Torres playing time was certain to dip, so Atletico loaned the promising teenage talent to Villarreal. With neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid making any last-ditch transfer moves, Valencia took the spotlight as it looks to turn around a bitterly disappointing season that has left it 17 points adrift of the Champions League places. The club unloaded a handful of underperforming players -- including Argentina midfielder Ever Banega -- and added several recruits, including former Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita. Valencia was active from Thursday when it signed Keita and striker Eduardo Vargas from Napoli while loaning out forwards Dorlan Pablon, Helder Postiga, and Andres Guardado. On Friday, Valencia added Cruzeiro striker Vinicius Araujo to its attack alongside Vargas after signing the Brazilian to a reported five-year-deal. Valencia also rid itself of a pair of underperforming midfielders as Sergio Canales joined Real Sociedad in a reported 3.5 million euros ($4.7 million) deal. Banega, whose career at Valencia has been riddled with problems, joined Newells Old Boys on loan until the end of the current season. Valencia also signed Swiss defender Philippe Senderos from Fulham, while midfielder Ricardo Costas move to Turkish club Besiktas fell through, however. Obviously it was the worst day of my life so far. It was a nightmare. Caraway and Tate treated his parents to a Mexico getaway in July, heading out on a snorkelling trip as part of the vacation. His mother had been doing fine in the water but when Tate looked back at the boat, she saw Chris lying lifeless on the steps of the catamaran.Tate heard his dad screaming for him and his lifeless mother being worked on. After Tate and Caraway raced back to the boat, Chris was not breathing. Caraway took over CPR but it wasnt working.I just remember thinking like we have to find a way to save her life, an emotional Tate told the TV show. Thats when I saw her inhalers lying there so I immediately thought shes having an asthma attack. They tried using the inhaler on Chris, who was turrning purple, but it wasnt getting to her lungs.dddddddddddd So Tate started using the inhaler herself, taking in seven to 10 puffs, and then began to blow into Chris mouth as Caraway blocked his mothers nose.I blew as hard as I could, said Tate. It was so incredibly hard to blow into her lungs. It was so seized up, her throat looked like a puffer fish. I just kept blowing as hard as I could and then finally I heard this popping sound, almost as though her throat was popping open.Amazingly, Caraways mother recovered, joining Caraway and Tate on the taped TV appearance.Even just seeing the re-enactment just gets you emotional, Tate said. Both of us fight for a living and that was the scariest thing I think either one of us has ever gone through.Chris said the asthma was triggered by a panic attack, after thinking she had seen in a shark in the water.Hopefully it will really save a lot of peoples lives and I really feel it has brought our family together, said Caraway, seeing a positive to Tates quick thinking that horrible day.I couldnt be more proud of her, he said of Tate.Caraway (19-7) is ranked 10th among mens bantamweight contenders. Tate is No. 2 among womens bantamweight contenders.___Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL JerseysWholesale Jerseys ' ' '

Ko fired a final-round, 4-under 68 at Tiburon Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort to finish regulation tied with Ciganda and Julieta Granada at 10- under-par 278. Granada was eliminated on the second playoff hole when she tripped to a bogey. It was another win in an already incredible rookie season for Ko. The victory is the fifth of Kos career and third of the season. With the win, Ko also captured the season-long Race to the CME Globe title and the $1 million prize. I really didnt think about it, Ko said about winning the Race to the CME Globe. Even playing today when I was out there I just set myself a goal to make myself as many birdies, just go out there and have fun. Ciganda, who shared the second-round lead with Granada, carded a 2-under 70 Sunday. Granada, who had at least a share of the lead after each of the first three rounds, shot a 1-under 71 to end regulation tied with Ko and Ciganda. Morgan Pressel was the next closest to the trio as she finished at 8-under 280 after a 72 Sunday. U.S. Womens Open champion Michelle Wie (70) and Sandra Gal (72) ended tied for fifth. World No. 2 Stacy Lewis (71) finished tied for ninth at 4-under 284. Lewis came in second in the Race to the CME Globe. She also captured the Player of the Year, the Vare Trophy and the season money title. The Vare trophy is awarded to the player with the lowest scoring average on the season. All four playoff holes were played on the par-4 18th hole, where the trio returned at the conclusion of regulation play. All three players found the fairway on the first playoff hole. Granada hit her approach to the right side of the green. Ko did the same, but put her shot a bit closer. Cigandas approach came up short of the green, but she was able to get up-and-down for par. Granada and Ko both two-putted for par to force a second extra hole. After all three found the fairway again, Granada rolled her approach through the green and off the back, while Ko and Ciganda both found the green. Granadas putt from off the green came up a few feet short and Ciganda and Ko missed their birdie efforts. While both Ko and Ciganda finished off their pars, Granada missed her short par putt and made bogey, eliminating her from the playoff. It appeared as if Ciganda would walk away with the title on the third playoff hole when her approach settled about five feet from the hole and Ko was far away on the right side of the green again. After Ko two-putted for par, Ciganda just missed her birdie putt to the right and the duo headed to a fourth extra hole. Ko found herself in a familiar position on the fourth playoff hole when her approach was hit to the right side of the green. Cigandas approach was not as successful, however, as she came up short of the green and her baall rolled into a hazard right next to a bush near the water.dddddddddddd Ciganda could only chip her ball out to the left and knock it onto the green with her fourth shot. From there, Ko nearly holed her long birdie putt, but she tapped in for par to claim the title. This has been a big year, a roller coaster ride, Ko said. Ive learned so much this year. These kind of playoffs, this is my first time as a professional and Ive been learning lots. I think next year is going to be another fun year. With a ton of pressure on her throughout the day, Ko remained calm and put together a great round. After three straight pars to start the day, Ko rolled in her first birdie on No. 4. Two holes later, Ko drained another birdie on the par-5 sixth and added a third gain on the par-3 eighth. The birdie on eight put Ko in the outright lead at minus-9. Ko then rattled off four straight pars from nine before making her fourth birdie on No. 13, putting her up by two strokes. While Ko closed out with five straight pars to complete her bogey-free round, Ciganda and Granada used late charges to catch her. I thought Id be playing 72 holes but I played 76, Ko said. Im excited that the season is over, but its been great. Ciganda, beginning the day one shot behind Granada, started strong with a birdie, but she gave that shot right back with a bogey on two. Four holes later, Ciganda traded another birdie on six with another bogey on seven, dropping her out of a share of the lead. The dropped shot on seven was Cigandas last bogey. Following five straight pars from eight and trailing Ko by two, Ciganda drained back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14 to join her at minus-10. Ciganda had a chance to take the lead on No. 17 when she had a short birdie putt, but her ball just rolled by the hole and she settled for par. Ciganda parred the last to end tied at 10-under. Granada gave up her 1-shot lead quickly with a bogey on one, and she did not get that shot back until five holes later when she birdied No. 6. Granada fell a few shots off the pace when she made bogey on seven and nine, putting her back to minus-7. After starting he back nine with three straight pars from 10, Granada shot up the leaderboard when she made a trio of birdies from 13 and just like that she was tied with Ko and Ciganda. Three straight pars finished up Granadas round at minus-10 as well. NOTES: Ko also won the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic and the Marathon Classic earlier this season ... DENVER -- Troy Tulowitzki showed why he is an All-Star and the NL captain for the Home Run Derby next week. More importantly, he is trying to show his young teammates the Colorado are still post-season contenders. He hopes winning a series at home was a fresh start. Tulowitzki hit two of Colorados five home runs, and the Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 6-3 on Wednesday. Drew Stubbs, Charlie Blackmon and Wilin Rosario also went deep for the Rockies, who won a home series for the first time in nearly two months. "Im careful about saying when wins are must-wins or what games are must-wins, but all things considered we needed to win that series," manager Walt Weiss said. Colorado last won a home series taking two of three from San Diego in May. The Rockies managed to split a four-game set with Atlanta in June but lost five other series at Coors Field. They were swept twice and in the process went from second in the NL West to last before taking two straight from the Padres. "A series win is important, especially against a division opponent," Tulowitzki said. Tulowitzki has expressed frustration with Colorados extended slump but hasnt given up on the season. He pointed out the Rockies used big turnarounds after the All-Star break to reach the World Series in 2007 and the playoffs again two years later. "Thats something Im trying to preach to these guys. Anything can happen," Tulowitzki said. "Even though it doesnt look like were in it keep coming to work every single day and hopefully it transfers over. Its been a rough first half but second halves here, those playoff-run years have been pretty good." They took a step with back-to-back homers off reliever Joaquin Benoit (3-1) in the eighth. Blackmon started the rally with a single and Stubbs followed with his ninth homer of the season and fifth in his last five games. Tulowitzki then hit an 0-1 fastball into the left field seats for his 20th home run of the year. It was Tulowitzkis second multihomer game this season and 10th of his career. Benoit had not allowed a run in 19 1-3 innings before Stubbs homer. "Benoit has been outstanding," Padres manager Bud Black said. "He got two strikeouts and a popout to centre and they hit a couple of high flies that went out. One by an All-Star." Boone Logan (2-1) pitched the eighth for the win and LaTroy Hawkins worked the ninth for his 17th save in 18 chances. Jake Goebbert and Seth Smith homered for San Diego. The Padres have not won a series in Denver in two years. Rockies starter Jair Jurrjens didnt experience any of the breathing trouble he suffered from during his Rockies debut last Friday but he was only able to last 4 2-3 innings. He left after the Padres tied the game 3-3 on Smiths solo home run and a wild pitch that scored Chris Denorfia. It was the only run in the game not scored on a homer. "We outhit them but they outhomered us and that was the difference," Black said. Jurrjens gave up eight hits and struck out six before leaving, but it could have been worse. With two runners on in the fifth Yasmani Grandal hit a foul home run down the right-field line, a call that was held up under review. It was the second time in the game Grandal was on the losing end of a review. "I thought it was fair. From my point of view it left the ballpark fair but it was so high that by the time it came down it just went straight out," Grandal said. "It got into the wind stream and blew the other way." Colorados All-Stars got things started in the first off starter Eric Stults. Blackmon hit his fourth leadoff home run of the game and second homer in as many days into the Rockies bullpen. One out later Tulowitzki hit a line drive into the bleachers in left to give Colorado a 2-0 lead. "You can only keep a talent like Tulo down for so long," Weiss said. NOTES: Colorado has hit five homers in a game three times this season. The last time was May 10 at Cincinnati. ... All Grady Sizemore had to do was hit it. The Red Sox outfielder lined one off the bottom of Fenway Parks left-field Wall to drive in the winning run on Tuesday night and Boston beat Cincinnati 4-3 in 12 innings -- the longest game between the teams since Fisks historic homer in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. "It will never get old to walk off," said Sizemore, who had three hits in the game. "I was just glad I could come through." An All-Star with the Cleveland Indians, Sizemore missed all of the last two seasons while recovering from back surgery. The Red Sox brought him in as an extra outfielder, knowing the low risk would pay off big if he returned to the form that earned him MVP votes from 2005-08. "Ive got to believe that tonight gives him even further feeling like hes contributing here rather than being someone coming back from an injury," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "Nights like tonight go a long way and continue to rebuild Grady." Sizemore singled in a run in the third and had another base hit in the eighth, then came up with nobody out in the 12th after David Ortiz and Mike Napoli had already singled off Logan Ondrusek (0-2). He hit the first pitch to left-centre, and the outfielders didnt even bother picking it up as Ortiz scored easily. Craig Breslow (1-0) pitched one inning of scoreless relief for the victory. Boston beat Cincinnati for the sixth time in seven games since the Reds rebounded from the Fisk homer to win Game 7 of the 75 Series to take the title. The teams also met for interleague series in 2005 and 08. Dusstin Pedroia had three hits, including two doubles, as the Red Sox won for the third time in four games.dddddddddddd Napoli drove in a pair of runs as the Red Sox opened a 3-1 lead only to see Junichi Tazawa give it up in the eighth. "We finally got something going a little late," Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick said. "Any time you lose a game, you think about missed opportunities." Red Sox starter Felix Doubront allowed one run on five hits, but he walked two batters in the sixth before leaving with one out and a 3-1 lead. Burke Badenhop threw one pitch to Skip Schumaker to get an inning-ending play. It was still 3-1 in the eighth when Joey Votto drew a one-out walk and Brandon Phillips doubled to put runners on second and third. Todd Frazier singled in one run, and Ryan Ludwick tied it 3-all with a sacrifice fly. The Washington Wizards will try to win a playoff series for the first time in almost 10 years Tuesday night when they visit the Chicago Bulls for Game 5 of their Eastern Conference first-round matchup. Watch the game live on TSN2 and TSN GO at 8pm et/5pm pt. The Wizards last won a postseason round in 2005 when they dispatched the Bulls, 4-2. A win on Tuesday in Chicago, where they took Games 1 and 2, will end the series and give them their second successful playoff series since 1982. "Weve reached the point where we need one more and thats going to be the hardest one," Washington coach Randy Wittman said after practice Monday. "I think they get that. Its all going to be ramped up." The Wizards inched within a game of advancing thanks to a 98-89 home win on Sunday afternoon. Trevor Ariza poured in a playoff career-high 30 points and hit six of Washingtons eight 3-pointers in the triumph. John Wall tallied 15 points with 10 assists, while Bradley Beal and Marcin Gortat scored 18 and 17 points, respectively. "I think we just did a great job putting pressure on them defensively," said Wall. "Trevor did a great job of getting himself going, making shots early on." The Wizards led by as many as 23 points and never trailed. If Washington didnt have enough confidence, it gets veteran big man Nene back from suspension. He was banned from Game 4 after an altercation with Chicagos Jimmy Butler in Game 3. Taj Gibsons 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting werent enough for Chicago in Game 4. Joakim Noah scored 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the setback, while Butler scored 16. The Bulls are in serious trouble, although their coach still believes. "Ive been around our team," coach Tom Thibodeau said after practice on Monday afternoon. "This team has been up against it for two years. All were thinking about is tomorrow. Win the game. Take it step by step. Dont get wrapped up in doomsday or any of that stuff. Just think about what we have to do to win." One positive for the Bulls is that starting small forward Mike Dunleavy has been declared ready to go by Thibodeau. Dunleavy suffered a bruised left thumb in Sundays loss. Offense has been a major problem for the Bulls, not just in this series, but all season long, especially when former MVP Derrick Rose went down for the season again with a knee injury. Through four games of this quarterfinal matchup, the Bulls have scored 100 points once and averaged 95.25 ppg, which is actually slightly up for Chicago. Defense has been the real thorn in the Bulls paw. They led the NBA in opponents scoring during the regular season at 91.8 ppg, but during their series with the Wizards, Washington is averaging 99.5 ppg. Game 6, if necessary, will be Thursday night in Washington. Barcelona Lionel Messi Jersey. If, that is, the Bearkats success in the postseason hadnt been occurring during North Dakota States four-year dynasty. The Bison did it again to Sam Houston Friday night as senior running back John Crockett totaled 232 yards from scrimmage and scored three touchdowns in eliminating the Bearkats, 35-3, in the FCS semifinals at the Fargodome. Next up for the second-seeded Bison (14-1) is a return to the national championship game in Frisco, Texas, where on Jan. 10 they will try to win an unprecedented fourth straight FCS title against either fellow Missouri Valley Conference member Illinois State or top-seeded New Hampshire, who play in the other semifinal on Saturday. The first two of North Dakota States three straight wins in the national final came against Sam Houston. The Bison are a combined 57-3 over the last four seasons, and their senior class has the chance to finish with more national championships than losses in their career. Only two other FCS programs, Eastern Kentucky (1979-1982) and Youngstown State (1991-1994), have advanced to four straight title games. The visiting Bearkats (11-5) from the Southland Conference had hoped for a different result under their first-year coach K.C. Keeler, who had led Delaware to the FCS title in 2003 as well as two other championship appearances. But the Bison, after playing poorly on offense in first half, ran away from the Bearkats behind Crockett (166 rushing yards, 66 receiving) and their powerful offensive line as well as a defense that slowed down Sam Houstons speed in the skills positions. The Bison extended their playoff winning streak to 15 games and their home winning streak to 23. North Dakota State managed only 99 yards in the first half while taking a 7-3 halftime lead, but the Bison nearly matched that total on their second drive of the third quarter when they began to take control of the game. On the third play, Crockett went undefended coming out of the backfield for a 35-yard reception from quarterback Carson Wentz. On the next play, Crocketts backup, King Frazier, sliced tthrough the Sam Houston defensive line for a 33- yard touchdown run which put the Bison ahead 14-3 midway the quarter.dddddddddddd. On the first play of North Dakota States next drive, Crockett went around left end to explode for a 55-yard touchdown run which extended the lead to 21-3 with 6:52 remaining in the quarter. That margin is usually insurmountable for North Dakota State, but for good measure, Crockett scored on a 10-yard run early in the fourth quarter before Wentz connected with R.J. Urzendowski for a 14-yard touchdown pass with 3:18 left to play. In the statement performance by coach Chris Kliemans squad, the Bison outgained Sam Houston by a decisive 217 yards to 49 in the third quarter and 398-338 overall to end the Bearkats eight-game winning streak. The Bisons improved offensive success in the second half was welcomed after they clung to the 7-3 halftime lead. After the first three Sam Houston possessions didnt produce a first down in the first quarter, the Bison ran off a nine-play, 68-yard scoring drive for a 7-0 lead. Crockett caught a 31-yard reception on the drive and then went off right tackle to ease into the Sam Houston end zone from 3 yards out with 3:52 left. Sam Houston quarterback Jared Johnsons 39-yard pass to Gerald Thomas to the Bison 11 on the first play of the second quarter set up the Bearkats for their only score, Luc Swimberghes 22-yard field goal which completed a 15-play, 82- yard drive and pulled them within 7-3 with 13:37 left in the first half. Johnson, facing great pressure by Bison pass rushers, was 20-for-31 for 227 yards and was picked off in the fourth quarter by linebacker Nick DeLuca (13 tackles), and he added another 66 yards on 25 carries. Wentz was 13-for-19 for 179 yards and one interception in the win. Bison defensive end Kyle Emanuel, the 2014 Buck Buchanan Award winner, had a career-high 11 tackles with 2 1/2 sacks, tying the schools career record of 41 sacks set in 1974 by Jerry Dahl and tied in 1990 by Phil Hansen. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- FCS Playoff Semifinal Saturday, Dec. 20 No. 5 seed Illinois State (12-1) at No. 1 seed New Hampshire (12-1), 2 p.m. ET Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL JerseysWholesale Jerseys ' ' '
