Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Derrick Pouliot underwent shoulder surgery on Wednesday and may not be ready to take to the ice for the start of the 2014-15 season. According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, Pouliot will be out four to six months as he recovers. The 20-year-old defenceman was drafted in the first round, eighth overall, of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Penguins. He scored 17 goals and 53 assists in 58 games with the WHLs Portland Winterhawks this season. McKenzie also reports that Penguins defenceman Olli Maatta will undergo shoulder surgery on Thursday. The Sharks had a 5-on-3 power play for 1:29 in the first, but the Panthers were able to kill off the penalty. The Panthers havent allowed a power-play goal in seven games.
